Keyword trigger

Also called: Trigger word, Comment keyword

A keyword trigger is the word that starts an Instagram automation when someone types it in a comment, a Story reply or a DM, such as GUIDE or LINK.

How matching works

Tools differ in what counts as a match, and the difference decides whether a comment gets its DM. Most look for the keyword as a whole word, ignoring upper and lower case, so "guide please" matches GUIDE but "guidebook" does not.

Small details break campaigns silently. A keyword saved with a trailing space, or digits typed in another script (Persian ۱۱ instead of 11), can match nothing while the dashboard shows the campaign as live. UnlockDM trims keywords and treats different digit scripts and full-width characters as the same.

Choosing a keyword

Short, unusual and easy to type on a phone works best. A word people would write anyway, such as "nice", fires on comments that never asked for anything. A keyword that is tied to the offer rather than a date, such as DEAL instead of BLACKFRIDAY, keeps working if the post is reused.
