The complete flow
From keyword comment to delivered reward in four steps
- 1
Choose the Instagram keyword
Pick the word people will comment on your Reel or post, such as GUIDE, LINK, DROP, or WIN.
- 2
Send the DM automatically
UnlockDM detects the keyword comment and sends the first Instagram DM without you replying by hand.
- 3
Check the follow before delivery
If the follow gate is on, the reward stays locked until Instagram confirms that the commenter follows your account.
- 4
Deliver the reward and referral link
The fan receives the promised link, code, or offer. You can also give them a personal referral link for a bonus reward.
One Instagram automation tool for four campaign jobs
Instagram giveaways
DM every valid keyword entry, verify the follow, track referrals, show a leaderboard, and pick a winner from one campaign.
Lead magnets and links
Turn a “comment GUIDE” call to action into instant delivery without asking people to find a link in your bio.
Follow-gated rewards
Hold the reward until Instagram confirms the follow, instead of taking their word for it or checking by hand.
Drops and launches
Run a short campaign when you launch, then stop paying when the campaign is over. No always-on subscription is required.
Pay for the campaign, not every contact or quiet month
ManyChat is built for complex, always-on, multi-channel automation. UnlockDM is built for a narrower job on Instagram: keyword comment, automatic DM, follow gate, reward, and referral loop. If you launch in bursts, pricing from $3.99 per campaign means you stop paying when the campaign stops.
Compare UnlockDM with ManyChatInstagram auto-DM questions
- What is Instagram comment-to-DM automation?
- Instagram comment-to-DM automation watches a post or Reel for a keyword comment and sends that person a private message automatically. In UnlockDM, the same flow can verify a follow, deliver a reward, capture an email, and issue a personal referral link.
- Can I auto-DM someone who comments a keyword on Instagram?
- Yes. Connect an Instagram professional account, select the post or Reel, choose the keyword, and write the message. When someone comments that keyword, UnlockDM sends the DM through Meta’s official Instagram API.
- Can the reward be locked until the person follows?
- Yes. Turn on the follow gate and UnlockDM checks the follow through Meta’s official API before releasing the reward. A person who has not followed yet receives a prompt to follow and retry; the reward is delivered only after the follow is confirmed. Across 21 follow-gated UnlockDM campaigns from July to October 2026, 45% of the 5,329 people who took part completed a verified follow, so roughly half of commenters never do.
- Does UnlockDM work for Instagram giveaway DM automation?
- Yes. A giveaway can use a keyword comment as the entry trigger, require a follow, deliver an entry reward, give each entrant a referral link, rank referrals on a leaderboard, and pick a winner.
- Is UnlockDM a cheaper ManyChat alternative?
- For occasional Instagram campaigns, it can be. UnlockDM starts at $3.99 per campaign instead of billing every month or by active contacts. ManyChat is the stronger choice when you need complex flows across WhatsApp, Messenger, SMS, and email; UnlockDM is focused on Instagram keyword campaigns, follow gates, rewards, and referrals.
- Is Instagram auto-DM automation allowed in 2026?
- Automation should use Meta’s official Instagram API and follow its messaging rules. UnlockDM uses the official API and only starts the flow after the Instagram user comments or messages, rather than sending unsolicited cold DMs.
